Dear people,
You may have received a 'Thank You' message from Covid19 CanDo, which was recalled a few hours later. I have no idea what is happening there - have asked them about it, and will let you know what they say.
Anyway, I would like to say a big 'Thank You' for all the work you have put in since the virus hit us. And it is not just what you are doing: simply being there is making a difference. I was speaking to a lady just an hour or two ago, who had asked for our help but in the end didn't need it. She said that being able to ask for help gave her a lot more peace of mind over this past weekend. So - by being a volunteer, you are making a difference, even when you don't do anything. Thank you.
Those of you who didn't receive that 'Thank You' message ... we probably still need to do something more on the signing-up process. Send me a note, and I'll see what I can do to move things on. But probably after Christmas, now.
Talking of Christmas, can I ask you: if you are in touch with someone on a regular basis, would they appreciate a call on Christmas Day? If you are able to do that, then great; if not, let me know and I'll try to find someone so they get some human contact that day. And if you have been in touch with someone and they said they didn't need any more calls, please would you consider just touching base with them again, see how they are, and ask if they would appreciate some more contact. Things change, and people don't always like to ask. If you are not able to restart regular calls, let me know and we can look for someone else. And at least they will know someone is thinking of them on Christmas Day.
Finally, as always, if you have any questions or need any support in what you are doing, do let me know. Thanks.
All the best,
Paul.
